AT THE END OF ASPIRATION (Ajani Brannum)

This lecture marks Ajani Brannum’s first performance project since 2024 — just in time for the (latest) death of hope.

Ajani is a performer, writer, researcher, and educator who wants to know what performance does on behalf of those who encounter it. They have shared work at REDCAT, ODC, Human Resources Los Angeles, Materials & Applications, Highways Performance Space, Los Angeles Performance Practice, in classrooms, on tabletops and screens, and when no one is looking. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, they hold an AB in English and a Certificate in Dance from Princeton University, and a PhD in Culture and Performance from UCLA. They are also an alum of the Cecilia Weston Spiritual Academy, helmed by Jade T. Perry. (Photo by Angel Origgi)

CANON (Andersmith)

This is an exploration of how we give meaning to the unexplainable.

Andersmith is a Los Angeles-based experimental dance/theatre duo that makes work that deals with the quotidian and the extraordinary, the body and effort, and the blurred line between what is real and the absurd. Led by Arletta Anderson and Adam Smith, their work has been seen at the Elysian, Stomping Ground LA, ARC Pasadena, CounterPulse, ODC, Joe Goode Annex, and beyond. They have been guest artists at Bowling Green University, the University of San Francisco, University of Hawaii, among others.(Photo by Lexi Dysart)
