Deep Listening Workshop led by Crystal Sasaki
Together we will practice improvisation scores for listening, sounding, playful movement, and active meditation. Participants can expect a mix of solo, partner, and group exercises with time for writing and reflection. Deep Listening is a practice that formed around the research and collaborations of composer Pauline Oliveros, playwright IONE, and choreographer Heloise Gold.
Crystal Sasaki creates at the intersection of performance art, contemporary dance, Butoh, ritual theater, social practice, and audiovisual poetry. She has an inkling for the uncanny and prioritizes improvisation to cultivate raw presence within an increasingly hyper-mediated society. She is a certified Deep Listening® facilitator through the Center for Deep Listening.
